(08.May.08) Iconfactory To Speak at ICON5 About Icons

Watch out Big Apple, you’ve got some country folk coming your way! We’re talking of course about our invitation to speak at the annual ICON Illustration Conference to be held July 2nd-5th in New York City.

Our good friend and fellow artist, Von Glitschka managed to wrangle us from our cozy pixelated cave here in North Carolina to join him at the historic Roosevelt Hotel for a session called The Art and Science of Icon Illustration. The session promises to be chock full of tips for illustrators on the growing demand for icons and icon design in today’s digital world. David, Ged and Von will offer tips and tricks, showcase prior work and answer all your vexing icon questions.

If you are planning on attending the ICON 5 Illustration Conference in New York City or perhaps just want to stop by and say “Hi!”, then we look forward to meeting you. We’ll be sure to be on the Twitter with our experiences and schedule, so if you’re interested check out Ged & David’s Twitter streams. Get ready NYC, here we come!

(14.Apr.08) We Remember Stan Flack

I remember MacCentral always being a top bookmark in my early days as a serious Machead. Stan was a pioneer in the Mac journalism field and was a great friend to the Iconfactory both at the helm of the original MacCentral and in his all too short time as showrunner at MacMinute. He will be sorely missed. Dennis Sellers, his good friend and colleague and founder of Macsimum News has more details.

(01.Apr.08) Never Gonna Rick You Up!

We have to admit that we’re not huge fans of April Fool’s day, but this year seems to be different. Our favorite game company, Blizzard, posted a hilarious fake game trailer for World of Warcraft: Molten Core (move in any of 8 unique directions!), and YouTube has somehow managed to Rickroll the entire world.

And since Mr. Astley seems to be the new king of April Fool’s Day, what better way to celebrate than to stick his suave 80’s face in your Dock, as your AIM buddy or Twitter Avatar or even as a desktop pattern! Head on over to the Freeware page to download our latest QuickPix, make that RickPix, and join in the fools day fun!

(01.Apr.08) Refresh Sakura is Blossoming

Dave Brasgalla’s new Refresh series gets a second installment with this ode to springtime and all the beautiful blossoms on the trees! Sakura is the name for both ornamental cherry trees and their blossoms in Japan, where they are considered a metaphor for the transient nature of life itself.

Along with two new companion desktops (both clean and with blossoms) Refresh Sakura is a great way to bring a little spring to your desktop.
